A ticket sold at a gas station in Texas has won the Mega Millions jackpot worth a staggering $800 million, marking the conclusion of over 20 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.
The winning ticket, purchased at Murphy USA 8848 in Sugar Land, Texas, featured the numbers 1, 2, 16, 24, 66, and Mega Ball 6. The gas station will receive $1 million as a reward for selling the winning ticket.
The lucky winner now has the choice between receiving annual payouts totaling $800 million or opting for a one-time cash payout of $404.2 million. Notably, Texas law permits winners of prizes exceeding $1 million to remain anonymous.
This victory marks the 15th Mega Millions jackpot win in Texas. The odds of winning the Jackpot are a daunting 1 in 302,575,350. In addition to the grand prize, four other players matched the five white balls. They won $1 million each, with their tickets sold in New York, California, Florida, and Washington State.
